His first release on Roulé (French house label set up by Thomas Bangalter, one half of Daft Punk and managed by Gildas Loaëc) was “Vertigo” - a very tight tight tightttt french-house release.

“Music Sounds Better With You” (also on Roulé) - dare I say more???
(he was in ‘Stardust’, the one time project with Thomas and vocalist Benjamin Diamond that did this amazing one-time hit)

It's fair to say that If there was an Australian Dance Music hall of fame, Ivan Gough would be in it. Whether you're talking about Dj'ing or producing, Ivan Gough is not only one of Australia's most accomplished dance music exports, he's also one of its very first.

A true, 100% fair dinkum' electronic music pioneer, his rare talent in the studio has conjured a career that many artists only dream of, while his notorious skills in the booth have rocked dancefloors across the globe – from Ibiza to New York, and everywhere in between.Over the years Ivan's records have made it into the playlists of the worlds best DJ's like old school legends Sasha and Paul Oakenfold, and the more recent class of top DJ's like Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo and Axwell. Ivan's records have also been getting regular plays on Pete Tong's influential Radio 1 show “the essential selection in the UK, with one of his TV Rock remixes (with Grant Smillie) getting the coveted “essential new tune in August 2006.

He also has more releases (and remixes) to his name than any other Australian, with dozens of records and cds bearing his name. Founded in 1998 by brothers Dirk and Marco Duderstadt, they produced their first single "Toca Me" with experienced record producer, Ramon Zenker. When it was released the following year, it topped several dance charts around the world, and reached number 11 in the UK Singles Chart.In 2000, a mash-up, "Toca's Miracle" was produced, taking the music of Fragma's "Toca Me" and placing the vocals from Coco's 1997 song "I Need A Miracle" over the top, which gained further attention from DJs Pete Tong and Judge Jules. As Fragma and Coco were on the same record label at the time (Positiva), the vocals were rerecorded by Coco and an official release was made, and went straight to number one in the UK chart, and was popular in Australia and Ireland.In late 2007 a remix of Toca Me was released--often mislabeled "Deadmau5 Remix", it is actually the "In Petto 2008 Remix"; Deadmau5 had no connection to it.2008 saw the release of 'Toca's Miracle 2008' which came with 'Toca Me 2008', the In Petto remixes of the original songs. The release of Toca's Miracle 2008 has resulted in much success, making the Top 5 on the World Dance charts, #1 on the Brazil Dance Charts, and #2 on the Australian ARIA Club Charts.

THE WEEK THAT WAS…
End of School, end of Uni, end of exams, end of work = the start of another crazy night at Q Thursdays. This is the holiday’s bitch, and we going ALL out. Joel Alpha steps up to the plate. The dance floor is rocking. Smoke machine in full effect. Its only 11pm. Hockers “man’s” the round end of the bar. Lubing the mouths of many a parched youth. Next up is CHINA, aka Dim Sim face. The place is well and truly packed now. Meanwhile the red room opens. That pole is not there for show. Seany B said – “GET ON IT”. And they do. Lewie Day and Benny P keep it sexy behind the decks. It’s like the red light district in Amsterdam. Hook & Sling rocks the mainroom. The dance floor is going ape shit. Chardy has arrived (Frankston isn’t close). Doing what he does best. Keeping em going since ’88. It’s funny what you find on the ground when the lights go on. I found some girly knickers and a dictionary. I kept the dictionary. The knickers were still attached to a girl. Oh well. Next time.

Another huuuuuuge Sunday thanks to all the misfits that showed up for the Black & White party - lots of people dressed in black and um, yeh... white. Still, great excuse to get your 'Nun' on and dirty up your soles on the dancefloor. Quick note to Management, if you see our underwear behind the DJ console can you have it washed and sent to our house. Cheers. Highlights included Andy Rault sporting a too-tight-bright-white tennis outfit asking girls to play with his balls. Dwayne 'don't steal my hat' Thompson, holding onto his hat. Dean K thinks that someone from Guiness needs to watch how many girls stand doe-eyed while he's behind the decks because surely it's a record (some of those girls are guys Dean - Ed). And Sean Rault can suck all our stiff middle fingers while he's having a UK holiday. Salutes go out to the guy who tried to eat his girlfriend out in the middle of the club during our set but got kicked out before he - or she, we suppose - could finish. Also hats off (not you Dwayne, put down your dukes) to Lanis for finishing his birthday Olympics in a dark corner at Q and Ben Tucker for thinking he could DJ. Don't ever touch our console again Ben.

Sydney born DJ/producer Hook N Sling, aka Anthony Maniscalco, has been a pretty busy guy of late. 2007 saw him land an ARIA nomination for ‘The Bump’, a collaboration with Kid Kenobi, as well as rock crowds across Europe, North America and Asia.

2008 has been just as strong for Anthony; he has so far mixed Ministry of Sound’s ‘Clubber’s Guide to 2008”, released his first EP, The Plastic Wrap, and remixed for another Q favourite, The Potbelleez.

This trend looks set to continue with the release of his new single, The Best Thing, which brought Tonite Only out of retirement for remix duties. He’s rocked Q before and there’s little doubt he’ll do it again. 26th June…uni holidays…Hook N Sling…Q Thursdays…enough said…

Adam Bartas, Ben Cappa, Glen Ralph, Brendan Russo, Dwayne T and Jules Jay combine with the scariest Friday line up you've seen, in fact it's pretty scary on a normal night. Doors at 9pm.

Carl Kennedy has cut his way across the disco universe from small beginnings in Birmingham (UK). Carl started out at a small club in New York City before moving onto the famous Centro-Fly alongside The Chemical Brothers, Sanchez, Morillo and more. In recent times Kennedy has been smashing his way though Australia which is like a second home to him. He is soon to leave our shores to return to the UK. In the meantime he stills has plenty to offer the Melbourne clubbing fraternity and returns to Q on Saturday May 3^rd. Be there………
